3 Common Furnace Issues that You Should Have Fixed ASAP!

As we get closer to the winter months, more and more stress is put on your HVAC system. No matter the scale of your furnace issue, it is a smart move to pick up the phone and call your friends at Allied Services, Inc. Our team of professional, timely, and reliable staff will be sure to diagnose and fix your problem as quickly and efficiently as possible. Your HVAC system can malfunction in the cold for a number of reasons, but there are three main problems of which to be aware. If any of these issues sound all too familiar, you should address them immediately.

1. Incomplete Combustion

Incomplete combustion can result from a variety of issues including blocked vents, air shutters not opened sufficiently, rust, scale, soot on a burner, and many more. Incomplete combustion produces poisonous carbon monoxide gas, which is hard to diagnose as it is odorless and colorless. It is a good practice to install carbon monoxide detectors in your home.

2. Poor Calibration

Your thermostat’s calibration can be thrown off by something as simple as it getting bumped or dirt getting into the wrong spot. A poorly calibrated thermostat can cause a furnace to cycle on and off incorrectly, which can lead to higher heating bills. If you’ve been experiencing this type of issue with your heat, call your HVAC contractor and have them calibrate the thermostat for better temperature control.

3. Noisy Unit

Noises in your unit can be caused by a number of things. The most common issue, however, is a worn or loose fan belt. Don’t worry, it’s likely nothing you did, a belt can simply slip off its track or malfunction due to being too loose. If you hear a noise, call your HVAC contractor.

Like anything, the quicker you diagnose an issue, the better the chance you have at saving yourself lots of trouble and expense. If you have not had a check up on your system within the past several months, be sure to get your pre-winter inspection scheduled as soon as possible. Contact us today at (937) 269-5059 with any questions, or to set up an appointment.
